Health Alliance, a prominent healthcare provider, faced a significant challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the rise of the Omicron variant, there was an urgent need to scale up COVID testing capabilities efficiently. Health Alliance sought Provoke’s expertise to develop a technology solution that could meet this critical demand swiftly. Provoke’s response was a two-app system, designed and deployed in just four weeks, that revolutionized the COVID testing process for Health Alliance.
The solution comprised two applications. The first was a desktop application designed for administrative efficiency. It provided a comprehensive dashboard view of all incoming testing referrals, enabling easy assignment to healthcare providers and tracking of test completion outcomes. This application served as a centralized system for managing the increased testing load.
Simultaneously, a mobile application was developed specifically for healthcare providers. This app was a game-changer for nurses and testing staff. It allowed them to receive real-time updates on test assignments, navigate to test locations, update test statuses, and record patient comments on the go. This mobile solution significantly streamlined the testing process, making it more efficient and user-friendly for frontline workers.
Since its launch in January 2022, the impact of the solution has been remarkable. Originally implemented with three providers, it has expanded to ten, demonstrating its scalability and effectiveness. The system has been instrumental in managing the surge in daily testing referrals, which doubled, leading to a 150% increase in total records captured. This growth not only highlights the system’s capacity to handle large volumes of data but also its robustness and reliability in a high-pressure, rapidly changing environment.
